In The Fast Lane: Johnson makes second Cup title look easy
==========================================================

By HOLLY CAIN
SPECIAL TO THE P-I

HOMESTEAD, Fla. -- With a comfortable 86-point advantage in cards playing custom points
standings, Jimmie Johnson knew all he had to do was keep his independent clothes challenger within eyesight during Sunday's NASCAR Nextel Cup Series
season finale.

Easy enough.

That's the way Johnson has made it look all season.

And that was the best life insurance he followed Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway,
where Johnson, 32, was crowned champion. He's only the 10th driver in
NASCAR history to win back-to-back Cup Series titles and he earned
this one with a 10-win effort that many consider to be one of the most
impressive seasons in cheap auto insurance memory.

He won races chinese chicago he had to and he won races when he didn't have to.
And all along the way, the all-American kid from El Cajon, Calif., won
new fans and new praise from his heart shape playing cards Some critics complained that Johnson's hefty edge in the standings
would make Sunday's race essentially irrelevant and the 4-year-old
Chase format a farce.

And it didn't help generate drama that Johnson and his closest
challenger, Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jeff Gordon, were close
friends who genuinely wished the other well.

There was no heat of the battle, no controversy.

"Our preferable outcome is to have all 12 guys 20 better auto insurance within each
other for the last race," said NASCAR chairman Brian France. "But
we're a sport, home insurance when someone puts in a dominating performance as
Jimmie Johnson has ... he's having a run in the modern era that is
perhaps life insurance "He's just in a different level and my hat's off to him."

It was the prevailing sentiment this weekend.

There may emo clothing not have been much suspense, but the best racer won surfboard shape playing cards championship. Simple enough.

"As a kid, I just loved to race, I had no idea where that would lead
me," Johnson said sporting motorcycle insurance wide grin.

"And here I am on the NASCAR stage. I'm just ... I'm just so
grateful."

And so good.

He had six top-three finishes -- including a four-race win streak --
in the 10 Chase races that decide the championship. Not only did he
perform under pressure, he had to beat four-time champ car insurance one of
the best drivers in the history of the sport.

"I watch Jimmie on the track, and playing cards custom poker be honest, I really thought
that as aggressive as they were being, it was going to bite them,"
said Gordon, who urged team owner Rick Hendrick to hire Johnson.

"And man, if they didn't pull it off. So that's just how good they
are."

The irony for those who think Gordon was robbed because he led more
miles and notched one more top-five finish is that for years people
complained playing cards promotion the guy who wins the most should win the title.

And before Johnson pulled it off this weekend, it hadn't happened
since Gordon won six races and the championship in 2001.

Since Johnson's rookie year, 2002, no one has won more races (33). He
has ranked in the top term life insurance in the championship standings every year
and has two runner-up showings to go with his two trophies.

Only 98 points separate him from being a four-time champ like his
mentor, Gordon. In 2003, he finished second to Matt Kenseth by 90
points, and in 2004 he lost to Kurt Busch by eight points -- the
closest title margin in NASCAR history.

"He's just really smart and really poker shape playing cards said Hendrick, who now
has seven championships as an owner.

"I think his talent and the way he approaches racing, full color custom playing cards as
determined as anyone I've ever seen mandarin tutor chicago down in a race renters insurance Then Hendrick half-jokingly offered Johnson a lifetime contract right
in the middle of the post-race news conference.

streetwear clothing which Johnson replied, "I don't need a lifetime contract to know
where my heart is."

He was also certain about how he'd celebrate Sunday night.

After a party in Miami's South Beach, "I plan to watch the sun come up
and smile."

He should.
